ARNI at Summit for AI Institute Leadership (SAIL)

NSF AI Institute for Artificial and Natural Intelligence (ARNI) participated in the 2024 Summit for AI Institute Leadership (SAIL) in Pittsburgh, PA, hosted by the AI Institutes Virtual Organization (AIVO). The summit featured all 27 National AI Research Institutes funded by NSF and its partner organizations. The program featured keynote presentations and panel discussions that vibrantly showcased the frontier research and educational programming we collectively have in critically important areas of US competitiveness.

ARNI’s Managing Director, Spyridon Mylonas, who expertly moderated the conference’s kick off panel on “Developing Educational Opportunity Programs in AI Research”, featuring a keynote presentation from Tom Mitchell, SCS Founders Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, on where AI can take education in this decade. The panel discussion elaborated on AI literacy both for technical and non-technical audiences and innovative AI-enhanced STEM curricula and educational programs for K12.

The summit closed with an AI EXPO day on October 10 at Carnegie Mellon University that was attended by the local community and partners!
